LIFEGUARD OF THE YEAR AWARD
Since 1996, Shore Beach Service's management staff has selected lifeguard who best exemplifies our Top Ten Values and Goals & Objectives as the Lifeguard of the Year.

The honor is named the Scott Freiberger Award, in memory of a former Shore Beach Service lifeguard who passed away due to an aneurysm in 1996 at the age of 23.  Since 2022, the Freiberger family has generously contributed to the winner's charity of choice.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD
Shore Beach Service awarded the Rookie of the Year for the first time in 2002. The criteria for the award is the same as for the Lifeguard of the Year, except that only guards in their first season of employment with Shore are eligible.
