Shore Beach Service lifeguards are certified in lifesaving, CPR, and first aid. Most are college students from across the country and around the world. In addition to their certifications, our lifeguards participate in weekly training sessions that prepare them for the job and our lifeguard competition held annually on Hilton Head. Our competition, which consists of various swimming and running events, is used to select our team to send to the South Atlantic Lifesaving Association's competition. 

Shore lifeguards also participate in several social events. Restaurants, including Casey's, the Hurrincane Bar, Black Marlin, Chow Daddy's and Marley's have hosted parties to welcome our lifeguards to the island. Zipline Hilton Head (@ziphiltonhead) allowed our guards to use their Zipline and Aerial Adventure courses...an amazing experience!   After teams are picked for lifeguard competition, team captains always arrange events to promote team camaraderie, such as barbeques,parties at local restaurants, and bowling competitions.

Shore's staff has participated in a the St Patrick's Day Parade on Hilton Head, with Shore lifeguards  and Junior Lifeguards passing out over 1,000's of red rubber wristbands embossed with the USLA's top safety tip "Swim Near A Lifeguard." 

Everyone looks forward to Shore's biggest social event of the year, the Employee Appreciation Party (sometimes known as Shore Prom). For the last several years, the party has been held at Poseidon's Rooftop Bar.  The food and views are always amazing!

After dinner, there are several presentations, including medal and ribbons for local and regional competition, as well as plaques for Women's, Men's and Team champions of the Lifeguard Competition. The evening concludes with the highly anticipated awarding of the Rookie of the Year and Lifeguard of the Year.
